Lecture/Presentation:
The main presentation was delivered by Dr. Iqbal Haider, focusing on the principles and interpretation of arterial blood gases.
Round/Visit of a Facility:
Participants visited the Medical ICU, where Dr. Haroon demonstrated how to draw live arterial blood samples and measure ABGs, providing practical insights into the process.
Post-Workshop Evaluation:
The same MCQs distributed during the pre-workshop evaluation were used to measure the knowledge gain after the activity.
Overall Yield from the Activity:
The workshop successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of arterial blood gases and their clinical significance. The combination of a theoretical lecture and practical demonstration facilitated effective learning, with a noticeable improvement in post-workshop evaluation scores.
Remarks:
Overall, the event was well-organized and met its objectives. Participants appreciated the opportunity to engage with real-world examples and found the session informative. The practical demonstration in the Medical ICU was particularly impactful, giving attendees hands-on experience in ABG measurement. Future sessions could consider a more extended hands-on practice session and a broader range of scenarios to further deepen the learning experience.
